How to Pray
Chill-Muse-Act
‘Find a quiet spot and make yourself comfortable. Light a candle (safely) if you fancy ambience. Silence is best, but good music can help stir the heart.
Choose something to muse upon – an idea from a tale, a song, art, philosopher, a sacred text – an area in your life you want to improve – a relationship, a habit (moral or technical).
If you’re religious, invoke God for help to better understand and act.
Spend at least 5-10 minutes musing. If you’re so inclined, think of a practical habit you could build to enact your ideals.
If you’re religious, thank God.
Try to persevere in this daily habit. It helps to stick to the same rough time and physical space.
Perseverance will build a mental space for contemplation and calm the body’s limbic system.
